IBM® WebSphere® Application Server Hypervisor Edition enables you to build, run, integrate and manage service-oriented architecture (SOA) applications and services in virtualized environments. It offers the features of the IBM WebSphere Application Server family—including simplified development, high availability and intelligent management—and optimizes them for server virtualization settings.

 

In addition, WebSphere Application Server Hypervisor Edition offers flexibility in deployment. You can select the profile of WebSphere that best meets your operational and business needs—with this edition you are fully entitled to use the Full Profile and Liberty Profile in development and production.

  • Allows you to deploy virtual images into environments running hypervisors such as VMware ESX, IBM PowerVM® and IBM z/VM®.
  • Allows a single machine to be partitioned into multiple smaller virtual machines to help increase hardware utilization.
  • Can be preloaded on IBM Workload Deployer, allowing you to deploy and manage SOA applications and services in a private cloud.

  • Provides Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) support and certification.
  • Supports programming models such as Open Services Gateway initiative (OSGi) applications, Web 2.0 and Mobile, Java batch, XML, dynamic scripting, Service Component - - Architecture (SCA), Communications Enabled Applications (CEA) and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP).
  • Supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise in both x86 and IBM z/VM environments.
